Newest Family Member

Here is a picture of our newest family member. We adopted her from a co-worker of Mitch's who couldn't keep her after realizing that she was never going to be home, between working fulltime and going to school.
She is a mixed-breed, German Shepherd and Siberian Husky, as you can see, she looks more like a shepherd. She is going to be a big girl! She has the sweetest temperment, but is all puppy. She is 18 weeks old. She seems to be housebroken. We kept her yesterday and she sat by the door when she needed to go out! We need to work with her on not jumping, but that will come with time.
The kids were excellent with her. Elisabeth made me especially proud. Not once did she get over excited or start to squeal or scream. The puppy listens to the kids pretty well. We will be working on some training for the puppy and the kids over the next few weeks.
The puppy's current name is Porkchop, but I think we will change it. Elisabeth said yesterday she would name a girl dog Maisey, I think I like that name for her, we'll see.
As of this post, the kids do not know we are adopting her, she will come to live with us tonight.

Finally some pictures!

I promised I would post some pictures from our Orlando trip and I am finally getting around to doing it.
Here is one of those rare moments the kids are actually loving! Walking around at the zoo in Orlando. I just love this picture!

They got to hold butterflies which they really enjoyed.

Here they are at Sea World.

This is the net they drug us on! We had to climb the net and then go through tubes to get out. The thing was about 3 stories high.

I have had a chance to finish other sock projects.

Here are the kids' socks, washed and worn already.

I finished one of my Ahoy socks, on the heel of the second.

I decided after frogging the Summer Solstice I would try a different pattern with that yarn, so here is the new sock, called Coolers, from the Sock Journal. There is a pattern stitch on the cuff, it is very difficult to see, but it is an open losange, very pretty.

I am very excited, I checked my graduation status on Santa Fe's web site and I am now elidgable to graduate!!!! Yeah, only 2 more weeks of class left and I will finally have my AA!!!!!

Not a great day :(

Well, we started school for the kiddos today. Joseph really enjoyed his books and wanted me to keep reading when I had read what was scheduled. On the other hand, Elisabeth resisted everything! She spent almost an hour completing her seatwork, which was only her phonics workbook and a handwriting sample!! Needless, to say, we did not get everything done that I had planned. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

I am almost done with my class at SFCC. My final will be on August 11th. The only other thing I have left to do is to take the silly Computer Placement Exam. I am excited about fall! I have gotten my books for all but 1 of my classes.

Yesterday we went to Camp Kaluqua for Mitch's company picnic. We had a blast. We went swimming in the springs, the kids took poney rides and I went horseback riding.

Busy, busy, busy

My goodness it has been a while since I have posted.

Let's see...what's been going on....

July 4th weekend we went to Orlando, not to do the park thing though. We went to the Central FL Zoo, Sea World and the Orlando Science Center. We all had a blast. I will post pics ASAP.

Since then I have been plugging away with my ASL class. I am really enjoying the class.

We are in the midst of EVBS (Ecumenical Vacation Bible School). Our theme this year is missions around the world. We are "traveling" to a new country each day, today was the Phillipeans. Lots of fun!

I finished the kids socks and I'm working on finishing my "Ahoy" socks. I need to get busy on the next baby blanket.

Mike and Amber's baby was born July 9th at 11:59pm. He is a cutie!!

More to come soon...
